The last stretch is a dirt road, rutted by hard winters. A truck or SUV is best. From October to April, snow makes the road tricky. Bring a truck or SUV with 4WD or AWD.
Water is hauled from a local well and stored in a buried 1,000 gallon tank at each home. It is fine for showers, brushing teeth and washing dishes. We recommend bringing drinking water.
Each home runs on solar panels and batteries. Outlets charge phones and laptops. On cloudy days, the batteries may not fully charge.
Williams has a Safeway, about 30 minutes away. Flagstaff has Walmart, Target and Safeway, about an hour away.
Each home has a fire pit. Firewood is sold at a self-serve stand, with payment instructions posted on the stand. Fire restrictions change with the season, so check current Coconino County fire restrictions (opens in a new tab) before you light a fire.
Arizona stays on Mountain Standard Time all year and does not use daylight saving time. Check-in and checkout times are in Arizona time.
